The S-shaped metals in old buildings are known as "cramps" or "tie bars." These metal pieces are used to connect and reinforce masonry walls, particularly in historic buildings. They are typically made of wrought iron or steel and are shaped like an "S" to provide stability and support to the structure. Cramps are often found in older buildings as a means of strengthening the walls and preventing them from collapsing or bowing. **

The cost function is S-shaped because it represents the relationship between the cost and the quantity produced. Initially, as production increases, the cost per unit decreases due to economies of scale. However, as production continues to increase, the cost per unit starts to increase due to diminishing returns and inefficiencies. This results in an S-shaped curve, rather than a straight line, to reflect the changing cost structure at different levels of production. **

The curved design also affects the instrument's tone and projection, giving it a unique sound quality. **

Stock dividends are additional shares of a company's stock that are distributed to existing shareholders as a form of dividend payment. Instead of receiving cash, shareholders receive more shares of the company's stock. This can be a way for a company to reward its shareholders without using cash, and it can also help to increase the number of shares outstanding. Stock dividends are typically expressed as a percentage, such as a 5% stock dividend, which means that for every 100 shares owned, the shareholder would receive an additional 5 shares. **
